In The Spotlight

This weeks "In The Spotlight" artist come from a unsigned hip hop artist that goes by the name Lil B. I think he has some serious lyrical skills he has the ability to make you excited about hearing each line of his songs. He seems to be a hip hop artist that is not all about the flash and the bling a lot of hip hop can put into their lyrics. He seem to have a truth and grit to his message and is very precise about his lyrical choices. So take a listen and tell me what you think. Jessie Ware

This weeks "Artist Of The Week" comes a female singer/songwriter that I feel has a different but creative take on pop music. She goes by the name Jessie Ware. Jessie was born October 15, 1984 and of course she is another import from the UK which seems the current trend in music. Jessie has a unique delicate but soulful voice. That even in her delicate and melodic tones she is able to put power into every note that she sings. Jessie sound and music style has been described as the missing link between "Adele" and "Sade". Jessie is currently signed to PMR, Island, Cherrytree. She released her debut album called "Devotion" August 20, 2012 it was her third release from that album called "Wildest Moments" that got my attention. So take a listen and tell me what you think. Solange Knowles

This week's "Artist Of The Week" is not a super new artist but I feel she has reinvented herself in such a way that she does seem new. She is also proving that her big sister is not the only superstar in the family. So who am I talking about Solange Knowles. Solange was born June 24, 1986 in Houston, Texas she is the little sister of mega super Beyonce but she is definitely doing music on her own terms. Solange who is not only a singer also dabbles in songwriting, acting and modeling. She also is known for her DJ skills. Showing an interest in music recording at an early age, she eventually broke into the music scene at 16. She released her first album called "Solo Star" in 2003. Which has been her most successful album to date. She also released her second album in 2008 called "Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams which peaked at number 9 on the Billboard 200 charts. What got my attention was her song called " Losing You" from her upcoming album set to be released this year. Her more laid back striped down style is what makes her musical style special and unique. Solange makes sure she is making her own mark and footprint on the music world and that she is much much more than the little sister of big sister Beyonce. Trust me this song proves that so take a listen and tell me what you think. Remember you can follow me on twitter @StarsOnTheRise and like my page on facebook just look for the logo!
