Throwback Thursday!

It's Thursday! I think you know what that means. The weekend is just around the corner and we get to take another trip down memory lane with another "Throwback" video pick. This week pick is from a music artist we lost way to soon. It is none other than Amy Winehouse with one of my favorite songs " Back To Black". I think she a true example of a talented vocalist. She had a voice that can never be duplicate. So I hope you enjoy! Remember you can follow me on Twitter @StarsOnTheRise and like my page on Facebook just look for the logo!

Glenn Lewis

Happy Hump Day or as it is comely known Wednesday. I hope your week is going great this week and if not the weekend is just days away. So lets talk about this weeks “Artist Of The Week”. This week I am bringing you a little Neo Soul with a Canadian artist who goes by the name Glenn Lewis. Glenn Lewis was born on March 13, 1975 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Glenn first came on the music scene in 1997 with his first single “The Thing To Do” on the Canadian record label Beat Factory. The song earned him a Juno Award nomination. In 2002 he released his U.S debut album called “World Outside My Window” on Epic Records. The song “Don’t You Forget It” gained him attention and hit number 4 on the Billboard Charts. With the success of this song Glenn had the opportunity to have songs on the soundtrack for the Jennifer Lopez film “Maid in Manhattan”. In 2003 he began work on his sophomore album “Back For More” which earned him a Grammy nomination. What brought this wonderful talented artist to my attention was his 2013 release called “Can’t Say Love”.  I think this song showcases the way a song about love should evoke emotion in a person when they listen to it. By making you feel whatever emotion is trying to convey. I that that is the mark of a great song and artist. So take a listen and tell me what you think. In The Spotlight!

Hello and happy Friday! We have reached the end of another long week and it is time for me to do something I have not done in a while. That bring you any "In The Spotlight" artist of the week, but I promise I will do it more often. This week I am bringing a hip hop artist that is putting a little fun in his hip hop music. His name is Joshua and this is his catch song called "Friend Zone". I think this song is very reminiscent of Will Smith when he was the Fresh Prince with DJ Jazzy Jeff. So take a listen and tell me what you think. Remember you can follow me on Twitter @StarsOnTheRise and like my page on Facebook just look for the logo!

Throwback Thursday!

Happy Thursday! The weekend is just a heart beat away and it is time to take a trip down that music memory lane with another "Throwback" video pick. This week I was feeling like a little girl power and sass. I think the song that best represents that is a song called "Don't Cha" by the Pussy Cat Dolls. So I hope you enjoy this song as much as I do. I think it just might have you dancing right into your weekend! Remember you can follow me on Twitter @StarOnTheRise and like my page on Facebook!

Tori Kelly

Happy Wednesday! We have made it to the halfway mark in the week and the weekend is slowly approaching. So that means  it is also time to pick a brand new “Artist Of The Week” . This weeks artist is a very talented female who I think you are about to start hearing a lot about in the next few months. She has an amazing voice and is able to play multiple instruments that include guitar, piano and drums. This multi talented artist goes by the name Tori Kelly. Tori Kelly was born on December 14, 1992 in Wildmar, California. Growing up she was exposed to many different styles and genres of music by her parents. Like most music artist she started her journey to becoming a music star at a very young age. She appeared on one of the original talent competition shows “Star Search”. In 2004 she appeared on “America’s Most Talented Kids” singing a Christina Aguilera song called “Keep Singing My Song” where went on to bet another “Artist Of The Week”  Hunter Hayes. By 2007 she followed suit as many young music artist and started posting videos on YouTube. Tori Kelly also auditioned for season 9 on “American Idol” but did not make it to the top 24. What got my attention was a song she released in 2013 called “Fill A Heart” which showcased her the strength and purity of her voice but her current single “Nobody Love” is proving  she is going to be a force in the music world. I see big thing for Tori Kelly in her music future. So Take a listen and tell me what you think.
