Jessica Sanchez
It is Weds day
once again you know what that means. It is time to pick another “Artist Of The
Week”! This week’s artist is an up and coming female artist who has an
“American Idol” past and she goes by the name Jessica Sanchez. You may remember
year from season 11 of the “Fox” hit talent competition. She made it all the
way to the finale two, but that was just the beginning for this young pop diva
in the making. Jessica was born August 4, 1995 in Chula Vista, California.
Jessica started singing when she was 2 years old and at this young age she
started having dreams of becoming a mainstream music superstar. Her musical influences included Mariah
Carey, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Etta James, Christina Aguilera and Michael
Jackson. Jessica made many stops on other well-known talent competition before gaining
global attention on “American Idol”. At the age of 10 she appeared on “Showtime
at the Apollo”. She came in second but received a standing ovation for her rendition
of “Aretha Franklin’s” song
“Respect”. She also competed in
the first season of the show “America’s Got Talent” at the age of 11. She was a
wildcard by judge “Brandy Norwood”. She showed so much promise on the show that
judge “ Simon Cowell” named her “one of the best I have ever heard”. This is
the path that leads her to her successful stint on “American Idol” With that momentum
from “American Idol” Jessica and her family decided to move to Los Angeles,
California to help further her musical destiny. Jessica Sanchez is currently signed to 19 Recording,
Interscope. What got my attention about this powerhouse vocalist is her recent
release called “Tonight” featuring “Ne-Yo”. Jessica Sanchez wants to be known
as a powerhouse vocalist who does upbeat and up-tempo music. I think she is
making that dream a reality. She has to the making of becoming a musical diva
much like the artist that have influenced her. So take a listen and tell me
what you think. Remember you can follow me on Twitter @StarsOnTheRise or like

Nikki Williams
I hope everyone enjoyed their 4th of July holiday, but now it is time to get back to business of shining light on new talent. This weeks "Artist Of The Week" is a free spirit who like to do things on her own terms. This little firecracker goes by the name Nikki Williams. She was born in Port Elizabeth, South Africa and by age four was belting out musical tunes in her local church. Due to apartheid crimes in her hometown her and her family relocated to Nashville, Tennessee when she was 16 years old. What might of seemed like a strange move to most turned out to make a lot of sense to her family. Since country was a staple in Nikki's household. Not long after the move her Nikki's parents split up and this was something that Nikki took very hard and caused her to act out and rebel. Her only outlet was her country songwriting that helped her to release the pain she was feeling. By the time she was 18 years old she had her first taste of success when her song Fly Again” was featured in Country Song (starring Gwyneth Paltrow).Nikki relocated to Los Angeles when she was 21, and shortly after signed with
Breyon Prescott of Chameleon Entertainment a joint venture with the
Island Def Jam Music Group. What got my attention was her song " Glowing" this is not a country song but a upbeat song that showcases her vocal talent as well as her free spirit tone. So take a listen and tell me what you think. Remember you can follow me on twitter @StarsOnTheRise or like my page on Facebook just look for the logo!
