This weeks "In The Spotlight" and my final post of the year is a beautiful rendition of the"Christmas Song" I am not sure what her name is but I feel she has a really great voice and deserves to be my final "In The Spotlight" of the year. Artist Of The Year 2012!

Once again another year has come to the end and it is time to pick my "Artist Of The Year!" Their where so many great artist that I blogged about this it was really hard to pick one this time around. But I think you will be happy with my pick. So this years winner is Rita Ora. I think Rita Ora made a great impression on the music industry this past year with her son" How We Do (Party)" which was a huge party anthem. So all had time have her own MTV Unplugged special which really showcased her very strong vocal ability. She is also already starting to receive attention and awards for her music. This year she walk away from the 2012 MOBO Awards for "Best Newcomer". With the release of her second single "RIP" she is proven to be a musical force to be reckon with. I think you will see bigger things to come in 2013 for Ms. Ora. So congratulation Rita Ora!

Wonder Girls

This week's artist is another over seas import of the Asian kind and they go by the name " Wonder Girls" This all female group consist of Yubin, Yeeun, Sunye, Sohee and Hyelim. This South Korean girl groups proves they are a force to be reckon with. The meaning behind the group's name 'Wonder Girls' comes from the idea that they are "the girls who can amaze the world". The group began their entry into the American market in 2009 as an opening act for The Jonas Brother's World Tour, performing the English version of their hit single "Nobody". In late 2009 their song charted at number seventy-six on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, making the Wonder Girls the first South Korean group to enter the chart. What got my attention was their song called "Like Money" the features Akon. They have a upbeat fun sound that just makes you happy. Monsta Alladon

This weeks artist is a hip hop artist who has help to defend and protect our country. He goes by the name Monsta Alladon. AllaDon is the son of a POW in the 1983 Iran, Iraq war. His father was an Iranian civil engineer during that time doing some reconstruction work in Baghdad. After being

no choice but to remarry to a successful Persian American business man. At the age of
two AllaDon and his mother moved to Atlanta Georgia where he spent most of his
upbringing living a blessed normal American life. He grew up to love the hip hop culture
but his passion was cut short due to him joining the USMC immediately after high
school and spending most of his late teen early twenties in combat. It was during the
time of him being in combat where he learned and sharpened his skill in hip hop
delivery and free styling with his fellow Marines due to long hours of night watch and
the realization that there was a huge possibility for no tomorrow during WAR so music was his ultimate escape.Once returning from combat in 2007, Monsta AllaDon was recognized not only in the
States but around the world for such a courageous attempt to get avenge for his father
that he had never met. He was a part of the destruction of Saddam Hussein’s statue in
down town Baghdad as well as the death of one of his sons, Uday Hussein. From 2007
to about 2010 after getting out of the Military Monsta AllaDon spent most of those years
traveling and trying his best to see the lighter more positive side of life and human
society as opposed to all the darkness he had experienced before. You could say that
attempt was huge success for he met some of the most recognized names in Music and
in 2011 started working on his calling in music.
Monsta AllaDon started working on creating his own sound by doing what he loved
most, rapping. Freestyling over every rap beat he could find he began to find direction
by expression. Growing up in Atlanta AllaDon was inspired by Young Jeezy and T.I. but
was convinced he was destined to create his own path. AllaDon was convinced that
House music was the future and forced his producer Az-Y to start making house beats
specifically for him. The fusion now know as Hip-Hop house or Electro-Hop allowed him
to merger the two cultures while staying true to his passions. His first single “Make It.(FaceBook).

Little Dragon

 This week artist is band that I feel put a unique spin of the world of electric pop and they go by the name of Little Dragon. Little Dragon is a Swedish electric pop band that came together in 1996. The band consist of "Yukmi Nagano" (vocals, percussion) and her close high school friends "Erik Bodin" (drums)," Fredrik Källgren Wallin" (bass) and "Håkan Wirenstrand" (keyboards). The band got it's name from The band's name was inspired by the "Little Dragon" nickname Nagano earned due to the "fuming tantrums she used to throw while recording in the studio. The band released their first album in 2006 and in 2007 they signed with a British indie label call "Peacefrog Records. They released their album "Little Dragon" in 2009 the released "Machine Dreams" and their current album "Ritual Union". In my opinion their music is fun and happy and makes you want to dance. I he has some unique skills on his song " Crenshaw 15001" I think he has a unique rap ability the is rhythmic and a little slower. It kind of reminds me of "Bone Thugs & Harmony. Imagine Dragons

This weeks artist is a indie rock group who put their unique spin on the genre they call themselves Imagine Dragon. Imagine Dragon is a four member band from Las Vegas, Nevada. They formed their band in 2008 and their name is a anagram that only the members know what it means.  After winning severl battle of the band competions they record their first two albums "Imagine Dragon EP" and "Hell and Silence" which both were released in 2010 before they where signed to any major record deal. They are currently signed to Interscope (KDinaKORNER). What got my attention about this band was their song "Radioactive" I think the way they attack their music is very unique and different. Everything they put together seems like it would be a contradiction but it work really well so take a listen and tell me what you think.

This weeks artist is a young women who is putting a pop spin on gospel music. She goes by the name Jamie Grace. Jamie Grace was born in Atlanta, Georgia on November 25, 1991. She is a actress, singer, rapper and songwriter. She was discovered on "You Tube" in 2010 she is currently signed to Gotee Records. In 2011 she released her song "Hold Me" which she won a Dove Award for New Artist of the Year. She also gain attention from Grammy Award with a nomination. What got my attention was her performance of her song "Hold Me" on the talk show The View. She make gospel music more main stream to the public. This weeks artist is a hip hop artist and producer who goes by the name Sammy Adams (Sam Adams). He was born August 14, 1987 in Cambridge, Massachusetts.  This Boston boy started making his name for himself on YouTube on his macbook in 2008. Adams has been musical for most of his life, playing the piano since age 7. At age 11 he began to improvise with his piano playing, starting to create his own beats and melodies. He aspired to become a producer long before he ever considered becoming a rapper. Adams wrote small raps for himself through middle and high school, but did not formally start making music until college. He is currently signed to Sony,RCA 1st Round. What got my attention was his song "Only One" . I just love his unique style of hip hop. He has a great way of mixing hip hop and electric sounds together that creates a great upbeat sound and tone. This weeks artist proves to be a women of many talents her name is Ester Dean. Ester Dean is a singer, songwriter, rapper voice over actress and actress. She was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma on April 15, 1986. Ester Dean graduated from High School and relocated to Atlanta, Georgia and the to Los Angeles, California. After coming to California she was able to start a successful songwriting career writing for the likes Christina Aguilera, Beyonce, Britney Spears, Usher, Chris Brown and Monica just to name a few. In 2008 she record her first single called "Drop It Low" that feature Chris Brown and feature on the soundtrack for the movie "More Than A Game". The song gained positive feedback and peaked at number 38 on the Billboard charts. She also work songs for the soundtracks to "Step It Up 3D" and Burlesque. She also co-wrote Nicki Minaj hit "Super Bass". She is currently signed to Jay Z's Roc Nation. You might have heard her featured on MGK's song "Invincible". This week's artist is just another import to add to the long list of act that are apart of this huge British invasion that has taken place over the last few years and he goes by the name Ed Sheeran. Born Edward Christopher Sheeran is an English singer, song writer and musician. He began writing music in 2005 and moved to London in 2008 to pursue his music career. In early 2011, he released his eighth independent extended play,"No. 5 Collaboration Project" with it, Sheeran gained mainstream attention. This week's artist is a little pop star on the rise who goes by the name Shealeigh. Shealeigh was born March 29, 1998 in Winfield, Illinois.At the age of two, she began to sing. In 2008, she started to write her own songs. At the age of 11, Shealeigh entered and won the 5th season of the YouTube singing competition Cree Ingles Idol Search. When she was 12 years old, she uploaded a cover version of the song "Shark In The Water" to YouTube. After "Ellen DeGeneres Show" spotted Shealeigh in the year 2010, she invited Shealeigh into her show. This week artist is another alumni of the hit show American Idol which proves they know how to find great talent. This young women goes by the name Haley Reinhart. Haley was born in Wheeling, Illinois on September 9, 1990. Born to two musician parents in was natural for Haley to have a love for music. Haley appeared on season ten of American Idol after not making the cut for season nine. She finished third on the hit show. In May of 2012 she released her debut album called "Listen Up" under the Interscope label. It was her song "Free" from that album that blow me away. Arika Kane

This week artist is a pop soul diva who proves that their is nothing wrong with being and staying an independent artist who goes by the name Arika Kane. Born in Killingly, Connecticut she was surrounded by music since both of her parents were both talented musicians. She came to prominence with the musical treasures from her debut album titled “Arika Kane” released in August (2010) which spawned the Hit Singles “Bcuz I Luv U”, “4 The Lovers” and “Here With Me”. All three songs charted in the Top 20 in Billboard, and all (UAC) charts for 20 weeks consecutively in 2010.  Making Arika Kane the only independent Artist on an independent label  to have accomplished this achievement. In 2010, Six songs from the Album “Arika Kane” were featured on several VH1 and MTV Reality TV shows such as “Love and Hip-hop”, “What Chilli Wants”, “Single Ladies” “Disaster Date” and “Basketball Wives". This weeks artist in my opinion is a girl with some very unique talents and background her name is Sky Ferreira. Sky Ferreira was born July 8, 1992 in Los Angeles, California. She is of Brazilian and Portuguese decent which one thing I found to be quite unique. She has a background as a singer, song writer, modal and actress. She is has studied opera to help refine her vocal talent. One thing I found to quite interesting she basically grow up around the late King of Pop Micheal Jackson to the point she had holiday dinners. What caught my attention was her song "Obsession" While listening to this song she reminded me a lot of a Fiona Apple. She is currently signed to Capitol/ Parlophone Records. This week's artist is another import from the UK who goes by the name Olly Murs. Born in Witham, Essex, England on May 14, 1984. This singer, songwriter, musician and TV presenter was appeal to catch the audience attention when he was a finalist on the 2009 UK version of the show X Factor. He is currently signed to Epic Records UK, Columbia Records US and Syco Music. He released his debut single "Please Do Let Me Go" which debuted at number one on the UK charts which was just the beginning of a long line of songs to hit the top of the charts in 2010. This weeks artist is a three piece indie band that has a lot of soul they go by the name Gossip. Formally called The Gossip is band that include singer Beth Ditto, guitarist Brace Paine and drummer Hannah Billie. The band released their first album in 2006 called "Standing In The Way Of Control" and are currently on their third album called " A Joyful Noise".  What got my attention was their song called "Move In The Right Direction". This week's artist I for see having an amazing future in the music world. I feel that he proved that by being one of the finalist on the 2012 season of "The Voice". I am talking about Jamar Rogers.  Jamar over came so much in his young life before having a light shined on his talent on the popular talent show. Just six years before appearing on "The Voice" Jamar found himself homeless and addictited to crystal meth which lead to his HIV diagnosies. This week's artist is a young women of many talents who goes by the name Rita Ora. Rita Ora is a singer, song writer and actress who was born in Kosovo on November 26, 1990 and later moved to the United Kingdom the same year she was born. Back in 2009 she appeared in the BBC special "Eurovision Your Country Needs You" where she was auditioning for a British song writer contest. In that same year she made appearances in videos for Jay-Z (Young Fever) and Drakes (Over). She is currently signed to Jay-z's Roc Nation label. Emeli Sande

This weeks artist is an female with a lot of soul who goes by the name Emeli Sande. She is a R&B and Soul Scottish singer and songwriter. Her first claim to fame was writing for UK rapper Chipmunk.  Which gave them both their first top ten single for the song "Diamond Rings" in the UK in 2010. She went on to write for artist like Cher, Susan Boyle and Leona Lewis. In 2010 she signed a record deal with Virgin Records. What got my attention about this soulful sing was her current song "Next To Me". So take listen and tell me what you think.

Chris Rene

This week artist is a rising star that people should really take notice of his name is Chris Rene. He was born in Santa Cruz, California on Christmas Day 1982. He was formerly part of a group called Diversion. He really started to get noticed when he appeared on the American version of the X Factor and he is currently signed to Epic Records. What made me take notice of this hot new singer songwriter was his song called "Young Homie". So take a listen and tell me what you think.
